Preserving quality
of career
About Viva Vet Hospital
As an opportunity for fulfilment, little surpasses a well configured veterinary career. Viva Vet preserves five qualities we consider enriching.
Competent, compassionate care requires ample time. We therefore don’t push our clock for maximum output. Although the particular needs of patients sometimes require us to hustle (at which we excel as a team) we otherwise set our schedule with the “friendly-neighbourhood” time we feel honours our personal and professional commitments to the human/animal bond and its enrichment to our Halifax community.
No directives from offsite bear upon our locally-owned, independent manner of practice. Our initiatives derive solely from internal collaboration and in response to the exact needs of our team, our clients and their pets. Agreeing on opportunities for improvement, we execute on them with liberty, speed and satisfaction.
Though rarely if ever demanded, you perhaps share our appreciation for a workplace pleasing to the senses for both people and for pets. We insisted on a facility with loads of windows, then sourced a renowned veterinary architect to cascade the light everywhere and also provide a layout with perfect flow. The result is a facility consistently uplifting.
Balance broadens one’s world. We currently enjoy the freedom of not working evenings or weekends. If ever we altered our schedule, we would never do so at the expense of the value we place on balance.
Executing together as a team, daily, on excellent veterinary medicine provides of course the ultimate satisfaction. Our founder and head-veterinarian has been awarded by the AVC for “outstanding clinical competence and extraordinary compassion.” The phrase defines the care we shape and collaborate on every day.
About you!
You are unsatisfied unless your workplace mirrors your own immunity from distraction.
You not only want never to be held back, you want support along the way.
Joining Viva Vet, you would not need to come on board as an expert at everything. We enjoy mentoring.
You don’t like taking anything home from the day, but prefer sweeping in, giving your focus to a cohesive team, and then bouncing out free of debris.
Joining Viva Vet, you would not need to come on board as an expert at everything. We enjoy mentoring.
You just need a desire to rise to any and all challenges of a general RVT, with exactitude and responsibility, knowing too however that mistakes are sometimes the best opportunity to learn.
While you will enjoy clarity on your responsibilities, you also will be the sort who, under ad hoc circumstances, joins in the leadership of the moment, solving problems on your own to help move forward the achievement of care by our entire team.
Though not limited to the following, some of your responsibilities will include:
- Venipuncture
- Catheter placement
- Radiology
- Anesthesia monitoring
- Physical examinations, patient assessment and triage
- Surgical preparation, monitoring, recovery and assisting
- Laboratory work
- Pharmacy
- Client Education
- Compassionate care for our hospitalized patients
